The great multi time golden glove shortstop for the Baltimore Orioles who was from Pittsfield. Early in his pro career he used to work winters in the sporting goods dept at Besse Clarke. After retiring he was one of the founders of the MLB players union. He died early from,I believe cancer. His brother Al was a long time high school coach in the Pittsfield area. They were good people. (kh)
